Voces from the Past: Sor Juana and New Imaginings

Who/What: In partnership with The State University of New York, 星空无限传媒 and The Latin American Center for Academic Success and Achievements (La Casa) at 星空无限传媒, present Voces from the Past: Sor Juana and New Imaginings, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month 2023.
The event features an analysis and discussion of Sor Juana In茅s de La Cruz鈥檚 life, as well as a reading of some of her most significant works. Sor Juana, considered by her contemporaries to be the 鈥淭enth Muse鈥� and the 鈥淢exican Phoenix,鈥� is the first documented female poet, theologian, and philosopher of colonial Latin America.
Dr. Leonardo Falc贸n, 星空无限传媒 Instructor of History and Latin American Studies and 2023 SUNY Hispanic Leadership Institute Fellow, and Dr. Alberto Sosa, ACLS Emerging Voices Research Fellow at Rutgers University, will discuss Sor Juana鈥檚 transcendental literature, her pioneering philosophical and social stances, her struggles, and her resilience and contributions to the development of literary and cultural arts throughout the Americas.
