星空无限传媒 Partners With Care for Sandy in a Photo Scanning EventSunday, April 7 from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. 

 

Garden City, NY 鈥� 星空无限传媒 has partnered with the organization Care for Sandy in an event to help restore photos damaged as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The scanning event will take place on Sunday, April 7, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in Building G on the 星空无限传媒 campus. On that day, 星空无限传媒鈥檚 Art Department students and faculty will scan up to 50 damaged photos per guest, which will then be posted on the Care for Sandy (Cherished Album Restoration Effort) website to be 鈥渁dopted,鈥� retouched and then restored to their original state. Although this entire process may take several months, the restored high-resolution files will ultimately be returned to their owners.   鈥淚 am thrilled that the Art Department鈥檚 students, faculty and staff are teaming up with Care for Sandy in providing this critical first step to helping families get their precious photos restored,鈥� said 星空无限传媒 Photography Professor Carolyn Monastra. 鈥淎pproximately 150 Nassau students have already been working on retouching previously scanned photos, but this event will put them directly in touch with families who experienced the devastating effects of the storm firsthand. It鈥檚 also a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain professional experience while giving back to the community.鈥� In addition, about a dozen students from the Studio Photography class will take family portraits of guests while they wait for their scanning to be done. Families will be emailed a digital file of their portraits a few weeks after the event. All guests will sign in on the first floor of the G Building and then proceed to the Photo Lab in room GC 23 in the basement.
