The ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Board of Trustees Elects Dr. Jorge L. Gardyn Chair Dr. Jorge Gardyn

 

Garden City, NY – The ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Jorge L. Gardyn, MD, FACP has been elected unanimously by the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Board of Trustees to be its Chair."I look forward with energy and enthusiasm to serving my first full term as Chair of the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Board. With the College as such a resource for our students' educational and career development and as such a resource for the community at large, I take on this responsibility with both humility and pride," said Dr. Gardyn. He added, "Community colleges are now viewed as at the forefront of economic revitalization and the retooling of our human capital. I will strive to join with the other members of the Board, as well as the College faculty, staff and administration, to work as one in making sure that ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ is at the 'point of the spear' in this most important effort."Dr. Gardyn is a board certified internist who is currently the Division Chief of Occupational and Corporate Medicine at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow. He has been in private practice since 1990, and in 1995 started Island Occupational Medical Resources, which specializes in occupational medical examinations. Dr. Gardyn has been at the forefront of providing quality medical services for the volunteer firefighters of Nassau and Suffolk counties. He is the Medical Director for the Nassau County EMS Academy, the Nassau County Fire Service Academy and the Vocational Educational Extension Board License Practical Nursing Program. Dr. Gardyn also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Nassau County Firefighters Museum and Education Center.Dr. Gardyn has also been active over the years in the teaching of medical students, residents, nurse practitioner students and physician assistant students, and has clinical academic appointments to Stony Brook University School of Medicine, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and Touro College of Health Sciences.Dr. Gardyn is a resident of Garden City. For over 20 years his medical practice was in in Massapequa, where he also was an emergency room physician at Massapequa General Hospital. Dr. Gardyn's current practice is located in Amityville.
