Twentieth Annual Mid-Winter Blood Drive at ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½

Public Invited to Participate – Wednesday, January 28

Garden City, NY - ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½, in conjunction with Nassau University Medical Center, will host its 20th annual Mid-Winter Blood Drive on Wednesday, January 28 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building on the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ campus. The College invites members of the community to join our efforts and become donors.

ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ is continuing its joint efforts with Nassau University Medical Center to supply a substantial percentage of the blood needs of this major trauma center. Our Mid-Winter Drive begins the new year in the appropriate spirit of giving. This is a critical time of year, when blood supplies are traditionally low, but the need for blood and blood products is large. The drive also continues ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½'s six times a year effort to encourage all able individuals to participate in this vital activity. Dr. Arthur Friedman, Co-Chair of the ÐÇ¿ÕÎÞÏÞ´«Ã½ Blood Drive Task Force, states, "At Nassau Community College, we take our community service responsibilities seriously. We hope our efforts will help meet a substantial amount of the community's blood needs. We look forward to working in partnership with community residents in this much needed blood drive."

Make an appointment to give blood by calling Dr. Friedman at 516.572.7401, or just stop in on January 28 and say, "I want to be a blood donor!" The process takes only about an hour and light refreshments will be served to participants. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old and in good health. Donors should come with some personal identification. We also ask that donors eat before donating.
