Dr. Jermaine Williams Announced as the New President of 星空无限传媒
Garden City, NY 鈥� 星空无限传媒 (星空无限传媒) is pleased to announce that effective July 1, 2019, Dr. Jermaine Williams will assume the position of President of the College. Upon the recommendation of the 星空无限传媒 Board of Trustees, Dr. Williams鈥� appointment as the 7th President of the College was today recommended by State University of New York Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson and endorsed by the SUNY Board of Trustees.
鈥溞强瘴尴薮� has a long-standing history of academic excellence and career preparation for diverse learners, which Dr. Williams will support and uplift,鈥� said SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall. 鈥淗is work to increase equity in education and create a welcoming and inclusive environment will serve Nassau well. Williams has a holistic approach to helping students acquire a college degree, one that includes academic support and solutions to challenges, such as food insecurity and homelessness,鈥� said SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson. 鈥淭hrough his work, students have achieved higher GPAs, and programs have had improved retention rates. I am excited to see the impact he will have on 星空无限传媒.鈥�

Dr. Williams brings to the campus community a wide variety of experiences and skillsets, and his emphasis on supporting underrepresented students and groups will resound well with our students,鈥� said Dr. Jorge Gardyn, Chair of the 星空无限传媒 Board of Trustees. 鈥淎s 星空无限传媒鈥檚 next president, Dr. Williams鈥� appointment represents a new and exciting chapter in the ever-evolving history of our College. Dr. Williams has served as vice president for student affairs at North Shore Community College for the last four years. In this role, he led the reconstitution of academic advising at the college, created policies in conjunction with other partners, and initiatives to address food and housing insecurity, among other responsibilities.
Before joining North Shore Community College, Dr. Williams held roles of increasing responsibility at Northeastern Illinois University including, assistant dean of academic development; assistant vice president for access, transition and success; and vice president for student affairs (acting). He has also worked as a director of student initiatives at the Community College of Philadelphia; coordinator of first-year student programs and academic advisor at Temple University; and assistant to the director of the university freshman center and assistant coordinator of self-pace program at St. John鈥檚 University.
Dr. Williams holds a doctorate and master鈥檚 in education from Temple University, a master鈥檚 in sociology from St. John鈥檚 University, a bachelor鈥檚 from Lafayette College, as well as a certificate from Harvard University鈥檚 Graduate School of Education鈥檚 management development program.
